Make a Difference in Your Community: Volunteer at The Wearhouse Thrift Store

Are you looking for a fun, meaningful way to give back, meet new people, and make a real impact right here in Kansas? Twin Valley Developmental Services is inviting community members to lend a helping hand at The Wearhouse thrift store in Waterville.

The Wearhouse has recently been blessed with a generous amount of donations from our community, and now we need volunteers to help turn those donations into something even more powerful: support, opportunity, and connection for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Volunteers play an important role in keeping The Wearhouse organized, welcoming, and ready to serve shoppers. Tasks may include sorting donated items, organizing merchandise, stocking shelves, preparing items for display, and helping create a clean, friendly shopping experience for everyone who walks through the door.

This is a simple way to make a big difference. Whether you can give a few hours, volunteer regularly, or simply want to try it out, your time and energy can help strengthen a mission that matters.

A Great Opportunity for Students, Seniors, and Community Members

Volunteering at The Wearhouse is a great fit for many people, including:

  • High school students who need volunteer hours or want to build experience
  • Senior citizens looking for a fun, low-pressure way to stay active and connected
  • Community members who enjoy organizing, thrifting, or supporting a local cause
  • Groups, clubs, churches, or organizations looking for a hands-on service opportunity

No special experience is needed. If you enjoy helping others, staying busy, and being part of something positive, this could be a wonderful fit.

Every Donation Tells a Story

The items donated to The Wearhouse are more than clothing, household goods, décor, or everyday treasures. Each donation helps support the work of Twin Valley Developmental Services and its mission to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more empowered, connected lives across Kansas communities.

When volunteers help sort, organize, and stock donated items, they are helping those items find new homes. They are also helping create opportunities, support services, and meaningful connections for the people Twin Valley Developmental Services serves.

That means every box unpacked, every shelf stocked, and every item organized helps move the mission forward.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to spend your time with purpose. At The Wearhouse, you can:

  • Give back to your local community
  • Meet friendly people
  • Stay active in a relaxed environment
  • Gain volunteer or service hours
  • Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Help keep usable items out of waste and in the hands of people who need them
  • Be part of a mission that creates dignity, independence, and connection

Even small acts of service can have a lasting impact. A few hours of your time can help make the store more successful, more welcoming, and better prepared to support the community.
